The Impact of Microaggressions
Why They Matter
November 18 | noon - 1:30 p.m. EST
Panel Discussion Virtual Event Via YouTube
The impact of words and actions matter. That鈥檚 why microaggressions have consequences for everyone.
Kevin Nadal, Ph.D., author, activist, and professor of psychology, defines a microaggression as 鈥渢he everyday, subtle, intentional 鈥 and oftentimes unintentional 鈥 interactions or behaviors that communicate some sort of bias toward historically marginalized groups.鈥漈hat鈥檚 why it鈥檚 important to keep in mind that the everyday slights that constitute microaggressions have a much larger impact.
In the seventeenth installment of our virtual panel series, 爱酱视频 College will lead a conversation about the impact of microaggressions. Recognizing these behaviors helps us mitigate their presence and also understand how their impact can be both devastating and invisible to those not directly affected by them.
Sponsored by graduate programs at 爱酱视频 College, listen in on this virtual event and join our panelists as they share their own experiences with microaggressions. Panelists will explore how one's actions can negatively impact a social identity or cultural group that is not your own.
