Refugee Health Fair Being Hosted by °®½´ÊÓƵ

AMHERST, N.Y. – Buffalo area refugees will receive free routine health screenings from  physician assistant students and faculty at the third annual °®½´ÊÓƵ College Refugee Health Fair taking place from 1 to 5 p.m. April 26 in Jewish Family Service of Buffalo and Erie County at 70 Barker St.

Screenings will be available for blood pressure, glucose, respiration, vision, heart and lungs, and ear, nose and throat to the city’s growing refugee population. 

In addition to the screenings, °®½´ÊÓƵ nursing students will provide health-related information relevant to the refugee population, including immunizations, navigating the local health system, prescription medications vs. herbal remedies, and winter preparedness and health issues.

Fun exercise stations will also be set up for attendees, and free healthy snacks and beverages will be served at the event.

The Refugee Health Fair is being co-sponsored by °®½´ÊÓƵ’s Paul A. Saffrin Center for Sustainability and Civic Engagement, the college’s Physician Assistant Studies and Nursing Departments, and Jewish Family Service of Buffalo and Erie County.
