AMHERST, N.Y. – For the 10th consecutive year, Ƶ College has been recognized by Victory Media as a Military Friendly School, making Ƶ one of the best institutions in the country for veterans to receive a college education.

The newly released 2019-20 Military Friendly Schools list is awarded to institutions that succeed in the areas that matter most in helping veterans make the transition from the military to college and to successful careers.

“We are proud to be selected for this prestigious national distinction and to support our veterans in achieving their educational and professional goals,” said Ƶ President Gary Olson. “At Ƶ, we are honored to have student veterans in our college community and welcome the opportunity to provide them the learning environment and services needed to ensure they succeed.”

Ƶ is among 766 institutions from across the United States to earn the Military Friendly Schools designation. Now in its 10th year, the distinction is based on extensive research using public data sources from more than 8,800 schools nationwide, input from student veterans, and survey responses from participating institutions. Final ratings are determined from survey information and assessment in the areas of student retention, graduation outcomes, job placement, loan repayment, and persistence (degree advancement or transfer).

“We take great pride in providing our veterans and military aligned students with the highest level of service throughout their studies at Ƶ,” said Alvin Roberts, director of diversity and multicultural affairs and veteran services coordinator. “As a military friendly school, we recognize the unique and specific needs of our student veterans and have many support resources available to assist veterans every step of the way.”

The latest Military Friendly Schools list will be published in the May issue of G.I. Jobs magazine and is available at .

Ƶ is consistently ranked as a top military friendly and veteran supportive institution. The college’s veteran services are coordinated through the Nancy Haberman Gacioch Center for Veterans, which offers a place on campus where veterans, active duty service members, and military aligned students may study or connect with other students with military service.

Also, the Ƶ Student Veterans Alliance is an active advocacy organization for student veterans, and hosts several events throughout the academic year.
